This is my first year being an active American citizen with participating in my right to vote in the presidential election; however, I am not amused. I was excited to be able to vote for the first time, but it seems that the majority of Americans are not thrilled about this election. My friend said " The pro about Clinton is that she isn't Trump and the pro about Trump is that he isn't Clinton." That quote seems to be a summary of many Americans thoughts about the race. The question is how will us, the undecided citizens, decide who will the leader of our home.

HPU informed the school that Trump was coming the Thursday before the convention and I found out during President's Seminar. Listening to everyone fill the auditorium about Trump talk was hilarious. "HPU is gonna get bombed" ... "I love Trump, make America great again" ... " Lord help us all." At this point I am still undecided about my vote, but I do lean more toward Trump because of my beliefs.

Finally, the day has come for the arrival of Donald Trump to enter our home, High Point University. The tension and excitement is at its peak. We had over 100 protestors and thousands of students lined up hours before the speech. Honestly, this is amazing. We are the future of America and to see this enthusiasm is exceptional regardless of what your opinions are. My friend, pictured above, got seated at 9:00 am and the auditorium was packed by 9:30 am. Several hours later at 1:00 pm Donald Trump arrived, an hour late. For the record, I do not think that people can be mad about his lateness, because he cannot control his transportation. Trump continued to speak for 24 minutes about national security and terrorism. Personally, these are major issues that our country needs to address, and I appreciate Trump's bluntness about the situation. During his speech Trump said, " My opponent won’t even say the words ‘radical Islamic terrorist... Anyone who cannot name our enemy is not fit to lead this country." You cannot please everyone and sometimes you have to just say what you think, and I believe that Trump understands that and maybe sometimes crosses the line too much.

Overall, Trumps presence was successful. It opened my eyes more to thoughts about Trump and Clinton. No one vandalized our campus and there was no fights. And the most important part, everyone was able to express their opinions and thoughts.
