Kim K's Ass v. Real World Problems

I have had an epiphany today about our generation, and I am furious. I was scrolling through social media and I noticed that we have altered our attention to the the celebrity world and quickly forgotten about the true problems of the world. Especially at HPU we are placed in this bubble, and in this bubble we are blinded but how the other half of America lives.

For this Thanksgiving I had a strong desire to serve the homeless for the day. Not only am I helping them, but it is helping me too. I wanted to go to Samaritan's Purse with my best friend, Anusha. We arrived at the soup kitchen @ 9am. The volunteers gave us an apron and immediately got us to work. I was assigned to do many tasks in the kitchen and mostly preparing the food. Once all of the food was ready, my new job was preparing the trays. At 11 am the guests were allowed into the dinning room. ( I loved how they referred to them as guests rather than "the homeless people") There were so many ranges of ages, races, ethnicities, and much more. They all have different stories to learn from. I may had fed them food, but they feed me humbleness.

At HPU I use to think about how less fortunate I was, but that has got to stop. We are too concerned with what we don't have and not how to help people who have nothing. When we stop looking at which celebrity has the best bodies and start looking on how we should change the world.
